If you care anything about your personal security, you should first of all pray for order and tranquillity throughout the four quarters of the land, should you not?
“On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 24
Our great vow is to realize Nichiren Daishonin’s ideal of “establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land.” Achieving that goal starts with earnestly chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for the happiness of ourselves and others, and then taking action based on those prayers by sincerely talking with the people around us. Through our prayers, actions and words, we can help many individuals form a connection with Nichiren Buddhism, which will lead them to become happy.
My mentor, second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda, fervently wished to eliminate misery and suffering from the world and create a realm of peace and happiness for all. Toward that end, let us continue to expand our network of friendship and trust with vibrant courage and joy!
