[T’ien-t’ai’s Words and Phrases of the Lotus Sutra states:] “Since the Law is wonderful, the person is worthy of respect; since the person is worthy of respect, the land is sacred.”
“The Person of the Law,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 1097
People who embrace the Mystic Law are precious treasures, capable of forging precious bonds with those around them. The dedicated members of our organization’s various local community groups are building a treasure land brimming with the vibrant joy of Bodhisattvas of the Earth.
Though in the past they experienced hostility and opposition like that described in the Lotus Sutra, the members of these groups have steadfastly made sincere efforts to contribute to the welfare of their communities. Their “unseen virtue” has brought brilliant “visible reward” in the form of deep trust.
We can overcome the sufferings of birth, aging, sickness, and death through the great beneficial power of the Mystic Law, which enables us to bring forth the noble virtues of eternity, joy, true self, and purity. As we engage in this challenge, let’s continue to expand the realm of human harmony, embodying the Buddha’s words “this, my land, remains safe and tranquil” (The Lotus Sutra and Its Opening and Closing Sutras, p. 272).
