Growing “Bluer than the Indigo”

Words of Encouragement From Ikeda Sensei

If one dyes something repeatedly in indigo, it becomes even bluer than the indigo leaves. The Lotus Sutra is like the indigo, and the strength of one’s practice is like the deepening blue.

Fierce winds strengthen the wings of young phoenixes. Amid the present trying circumstances, our high school division members are growing splendidly. It is in challenging times that young Bodhisattvas of the Earth, each like a mighty tree, continue to learn and develop themselves all the more.

Nothing makes young lives shine brighter than faith in the Mystic Law. Nothing nurtures the development of dauntless leaders of tomorrow than the teachings of Nichiren Buddhism.

My admirable young friends who will grow “bluer than the indigo,” may you transform all hardships into a source of strength and become the pillars of your age!
