Even a stranger, if you open up your heart to him, may be willing to lay down his life for you.
“On Rebuking Slander of the Law and Eradicating Sins,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 444
Nichiren Daishonin sent these words to Shijo Kingo, who was battling adversity. He tells his disciple to warmly embrace everyone and care for them as one would one’s own children. When we treasure others with sincerity and genuine concern, we will also be protected.
In these troubled times, people are yearning for warm support and hope-filled words. Our dialogues to create a peaceful world by spreading the principles of Nichiren Buddhism forge heart-to-heart connections, uniting the goodness inherent in the depths of our own and others’ lives. Let’s continue in our efforts to create precious ties of friendship and trust throughout our societies.
