- On June 10, 1951, second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda founded the women’s division and held its inaugural meeting at a French restaurant, where centerpieces of white lilies adorned the tables. The women shared with President Toda the joys of propagating Buddhism. The white lily has become a symbol of the women’s division and their vow to advance kosen-rufu alongside their mentor. Today, women’s division members in Japan under age 50 are referred to as the Young White Lily Generation. ↩︎
