We are shocked and saddened by the senseless violence that is taking place, including the horrendous shootings in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, New York.
Violence in any form is intolerable; violence against people peacefully shopping in a grocery store because of their race is outrageous; and violence against children and those who support and protect them, in the place that is meant to be the safest, is unbearable and unacceptable.
Each person whose life is taken in these tragic acts of violence has a story, a life, a legacy and people they leave behind. To honor the dignity of their lives, let us unite and vow to change our country, beginning today.
As the SGI-USA community, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to continuous, heart-to-heart dialogue to transform the hearts of each individual, making respect for the dignity of life the foundation of our society instead of hatred and violence.
We know that each of us has a significant role to play to shift this culture and build a peaceful society where each life is cherished to the utmost.
We offer our deepest prayers to the families of those who tragically lost their lives and all who were injured and traumatized by these tragic events.
