If there are a sun and a moon in the sky, if there are plants and trees on the earth, if there are day and night in this country of ours, then so long as the earth fails to turn upside down and the tides of the ocean continue to ebb and flow, there can be no doubt that the prayers of those who put faith in the Lotus Sutra [Nam-myoho-renge-kyo] will be answered in this world, and that they will enjoy good circumstances in their next existence.
“On Prayer,” The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, vol. 1, p. 346
How wonderful to have a philosophy for creating lasting happiness and peace that we can confidently share with others. In embodying and spreading the ultimate principle of respect for the dignity of life as emissaries of the Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law, we of the Soka family serve as a guiding light for humankind.
I wish to thank all of you, my dear friends, for achieving such magnificent dynamic progress this year. In the new year[1] ahead, striving with the heart of a lion king and with the protective functions of the entire universe as our allies, let us make the triumphant song of Soka humanism resound in the places of our mission entrusted to us by the Daishonin!
