The SGI-USA National team has received many queries from members of our Soka family throughout the country regarding the safety and well-being of our members in Maui and the island of Hawaiʻi, the site of the deadliest U.S. wildfires in years.
The Pacific Zone team is in the closest communication possible with local leaders on Maui, who are reaching out to and confirming the safety of members and their families while extending faith encouragement to them during this incredibly challenging time.
As of now, the SGI-USA center there remains undamaged, and has been opened for members to chant daimoku together. The center has some supplies, and we expect to start relief operations this weekend.
We ask for your understanding and patience as events continue to unfold in real time and communication remains extremely limited. We will provide updates on an ongoing basis.
The circumstances of the wildfires have been reported to Ikeda Sensei, who is sending daimoku for the total safety and well-being of all members and residents in the affected areas.
In the meantime, we ask for everyone’s prayers for the people of Maui and the island of Hawaiʻi. Thank you very much for your concern and warm support.
Respectfully,
SGI-USA National Team
