The mystic principle of the true aspect of reality is one, but if it encounters evil influences, it will manifest delusion, while if it encounters good influences, it will manifest enlightenment. Enlightenment means enlightenment to the essential nature of phenomena, and delusion, ignorance of it.
“The Entity of the Mystic Law,” WND-1, 417–18
Our lives change through external influences. Good influences, Nichiren Daishonin says, can bring out the highest positive potential within us. This is the essence of the Soka Gakkai, a network of “good friends” united by faith in the Mystic Law.
We carry out dialogue in the spirit of Bodhisattva Never Disparaging, believing in and seeking to awaken the Buddha nature within each person. Through these efforts, we together transform the delusion of ignorance into enlightenment to life’s essential nature.
Expanding our network of good friends is the steadiest and surest way to advance the ideal of “establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land” and create a current of peace in the world.
