Intermediate Exam This December

The SGI-USA will hold its first Intermediate Exam of 2024 from Dec. 7–8. The exam will be on the second half of The Basics of Nichiren Buddhism and will be offered in English only. Here is everything you need to know.

This exam is for anyone who has passed the Introductory Exam. To take the next-level Advanced Exam, those who did not complete the three Essentials Exam in the past should take the Intermediate Exam. This exam is optional for those who passed an Ikeda Wisdom Academy Exam or those who passed three Essentials Exams. If you’re unsure of your eligibility, please ask your local leaders. Examinees must register at portal.sgi-usa.org to take the exam.

Deadline to register is Dec. 1, 11:59 p.m. PT

Registration will not be available after this time and cannot be done on the day of the exam.

Exams will be held at local SGI-USA centers or rental facilities. Please confirm the exact date and time with your local organization. Examinees must bring a smartphone, tablet or laptop to take the exam. No paper or hard copy exam will be available.

Exam material is from The Basics of Nichiren Buddhism, which can be purchased at your local SGI-USA bookstore or online at bookstore.sgi-usa.org, or downloaded for free at portal.sgi-usa.org, along with a workbook of review questions. In your portal, please go to “My Exams” > “Exam Study Guides” > “Intermediate Exam.”
