I may have been at the [Ceremony in the Air], but since I am a common mortal, it is beyond my power to know the past. There is no doubt, however, that in my present life I am the votary of the Lotus Sutra, and that in the future I will therefore reach the seat of enlightenment without fail.

How incredibly profound are the karmic ties we share as fellow members who chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for the happiness of ourselves and others at this present time. We are Bodhisattvas of the Earth who are directly connected to Nichiren Daishonin, the Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law, and we were undoubtedly at the Ceremony in the Air.

Don’t keep dwelling on past setbacks and disappointments. Nichiren Buddhism teaches the importance of the present and the future. Let’s take a courageous step toward the future with a firm vow from where we are now!
