Ikeda Wisdom Academy Begins 7th Class

On Feb. 1, 2025, youth district through national leaders took the Sixth Class Ikeda Wisdom Academy Exam, concluding their study of the first three volumes of Ikeda Sensei’s dialogue series The Wisdom of the Lotus Sutra.

Starting this month, academy members will launch the seventh class, which focuses on volumes 4 and 5 of the study series, which cover the Lotus Sutra’s 16th chapter, “Life Span of the Thus Come One,” through the 22nd “Entrustment” chapter. This new class will be open to youth group through national leaders as well as all student division members.

The Ikeda Wisdom Academy study program, named by Ikeda Sensei, was introduced on Jan. 26, 2013, in front of some 200 SGI-USA youth representatives at the Florida Nature and Culture Center in Weston, Florida.

In the decade and more since its founding, many academy members have become capable frontrunners of our kosen-rufu movement in the United States, living out the group’s motto: “Protecting the Mentor and the Teachings.” The academy continues to focus on cultivating youth with a correct understanding of Buddhism who can put the teachings into practice and lead lives of unparalleled victory based on a great vow.
